Published 11 months ago • 2 min read

This week: New Podcast | Suspension Setup Online Workshop

Hello Reader,

As promised... I'm thrilled to announce the first episode of Season 3 of my podcast, where I had the pleasure of speaking with Nick Padmore, a professional racing driver with an impressive track record and unusual career path.

In our conversation, Nick unpacks the intricacies of perfecting a lap, the role of data analysis in improving performance, and the critical balance between life on and off the track. It's a rare glimpse into the world of a champion driver, who's raced some of motorsports most iconic racing cars.

As ever, intertwined behind every story you'll find practical tips, ideas and suggestions you can apply to your own motorsports. Trust me, you won't want to miss this one!

The delay since my last episode is due to the considerable time and effort I've devoted to researching, designing, creating, and delivering my Master Your Tyres course. I truly believe it's been worth the wait and I'm so excited to get back on the podcast trail to share with you these insightful conversations.

So... as ever... grab a pen, grab a coffee, and join me for glimpse behind the scenes on Nick's exciting journey in the world of professional racing.

Until next time, good luck staying ahead of the curve.

Workshop Alert:
"What springs and dampers should I run?"

After mastering your tyres, the brave amongst you may be ready to tackle the world of suspension systems.

It's a challenging subject, full of interconnected components and paddock myths. To shed some light on this, I've decided to share my own experience of developing springs, anti-roll bars, and damper curves for my race car in an online workshop.

We'll cover practical methods for choosing your suspension setup, examine how to identify damper curves that maximise grip, and discuss why damper tuning can be tricky in practice. We'll end with tips for adjusting your suspension on track, to match the theory with the reality. This online session, planned for July (exact date TBC), promises to bring top-level motorsport strategies to your fingertips.

If this appeals, do let me know, especially if there are other topics you're keen to explore. Your feedback will shape the session so I can match it to best answer your questions.

p.s. Don't forget it's Le Mans this weekend. Best of luck to everyone competing and, if you're their watching, wishing you a great weekend.

I was coachineering a leading racing driver recently. A very successful businessman, and one who takes no prisoners. He knew his AiM data could probably help him – he’d just never done it, nor even seen it done well. He’d been sold on the dream of data but all he’d experienced was a frustrating nightmare. After...

Hello Reader, We are not born with an ingrained ability to learn a race track. But knowing the race circuit (really) well is essential to you being fast. Yet learning takes time. Time you may not have for extra testing days or extended simulator sessions. You can just hope for the best. Try to figure things out as you go along. Or, you can try some preparation beforehand – like reading written guides, studying track maps and watching online videos. This weeks article is about levelling up...
