Ahead of the Curve This week: A new workshop [link] | Coachineering at your service Your AiM data can tell you how to drive faster. If only you knew– or could remember– how Reader! I was coachineering a leading racing driver recently. A very successful businessman, and one who takes no prisoners. He knew his AiM data could probably help him – he’d just never done it, nor even seen it done well. He’d been sold on the dream of data but all he’d experienced was a frustrating nightmare. After only two sessions together, he was lapping 0.7sec faster – consistently! No heroics. No major changes. No time with me in the car. Just 2 insights from the data – that if he approached turn 2 and turn 4 slightly differently he would be faster. And he was. He didn’t believe me at first – that is why it took two sessions! But that was my coaching challenge – the numbers were clear. Even if you’ve used it before, Race Studio 3 (RS3) can be overwhelming. If you’ve ever clicked 5 wrong buttons in the hope of getting the variance trace up, I feel ya. But what if you knew it was worth the time and effort to fire up the laptop? That you would remember how to bend RS3 to your will? – and, quickly! AiM data analysis doesn’t have to be a nightmare for you anymore. Join me for... Samir’s AiM Cookbook [link]

It's fair to say he didn't have the easiest start, but little did he know that when he broke...

Time you may not have for extra testing days or extended simulator sessions. You can just hope for the best. Try to figure things out as you go along. Or, you can try some preparation beforehand – like reading written guides, studying track maps and watching online videos. This weeks article is about levelling up...
This week: Working out the Key Corners | Podcast update Hello Reader, What is the most important corner on a racetrack? In other words, if you could go just a little bit faster anywhere, where would you get the biggest laptime return? You have hairpins, fast sweeping corners, slow chicanes, high-speed S-bends, corners over crests, corners through dips, fast corners into slow… and on (and on) it goes. Just think “pure laptime” for now. Where would you consider the most critical corner to be:...
